Computer-Aided Design of the Laser Dieless Drawing Process of Tubes From Low-Plasticity Magnesium Alloys

This paper discusses the manufacture of micro tubes made of the low-plasticity magnesium alloys MgNi19, ZEK100, and MgCa08 using the laser dieless drawing (LDD) process. The purpose of this study was the development and implementation into the FEM code of the ductility models of these alloys and experimental validation of proposed methods of process design. Technological diagrams were obtained for determination of tube diameter after the LDD process. Results show a good correspondence between simulation and experiments for tube diameter and load and fracture prediction.
